Rejoice!
is a member of an eight church coalition that builds or rehabilitates houses for
low income people. Church members volunteer during the Fall to construct a home
in the Omaha area.
To
volunteer or if you have questions, please call the Church office at 334-1999.
People
who love to quilt and serve others meet on the second, third, fourth and fifth
Mondays of the month at 9:30 am at the church. They make quilts for Lutheran
World Relief and those in need in the community, and enjoy a time of fellowship.
If you
are interested in joining this group, call the office at 334-1999.
The
Prayer Chain is formed of committed people who give time in prayer for those in
need.
A telephone or e-mail chain is available for prayer requests to be sent to
Prayer Chain members.
If you are interested in joining the Prayer Chain, or if you have special prayer
requests,
please contact Patti Hovdenes at
334-1999.
Throughout the year members of Rejoice! are committed to serving others in a
variety of ways. If you are interested in any of these projects, contact
the church office at 334-1999 for
more information.
Thanksgiving Baskets
Members and friends of Rejoice! contribute food items to provide a full
Thanksgiving meal for area families. Members collect, organize, and deliver the
baskets the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. In recent years Rejoice! has provided
over 250 Thanksgiving baskets and turkeys to area families.
Caring and Sharing Trees
The Social Ministry Committee sponsors the Caring and Sharing Trees to collect
toys and needed clothing or house items for Omaha area families. Over 800 gifts
were collected last year.
Sweaters/Sweatshirts Collection
Once a year members of Rejoice! collect good used or new sweaters and
sweatshirts to distribute locally and to Lutheran World Relief.
CROP Walk
Members of Rejoice! participate in the annual Omaha CROP Walk to help raise
money for the local food pantry. The CROP Walk is held in October.
This
ministry for adults with physical or developmental disabilities meets every
Thursday from
6:30 – 7:30 p.m., October through May, for crafts, stories, music, and special
events. Special Events are held during the summer.
If you are interested in helping with this special ministry, or if you know
someone who would benefit from this ministry, contact
Cheryl Griess at 334-1999.
